This machine is another construction based on a seemingly universal Fiesta platform, and a successful one at that. It is also one of the great examples of a“ New Edge” design – its silhouette amazes even today, and by the time of its introduction( in 1997 )it was just revolutionary. And if you like to race in amateur league, you should definitely consider buying a used Ford Puma as you will certainly not be disappointed.
If you purchase a used Ford Puma from before the year 1998, you will get the machine equipped with a great 1. 7 litre four cylinder 16 valve engine producing 123 horsepower and acceleration rates from 0 to 60 mph( 0 to 100 km/h )in 9 seconds. Its maximum speed was 123 mph( 198 km/h ). In 1998 Ford changed this engine to a 1. 4 litre 16 valve plant that delivers 89 horsepower and produced 112 horsepower. Acceleration and maximum speed were considerably lower: from 0 to 60 mph( 0 to 100 km/h )in 10. 8 seconds and a top speed of 112 mph( 180 km/h ). The suspension of the used Ford Puma is almost identical as in other small Ford’s cars – an independent MacPherson struts at the front and a semi independent twist beam axle at the rear. A used Ford Puma is equipped with ABS anti lock brakes and traction control system, the car also has a good grip thanks to the cars’ 15 inch wheels and 195/50R15 tyres.
